The Linden Postcard Show turns 22 this year. This unique open entry award is a unique event in the Australian cultural calendar. It is open to all Australian artists.
Artists can enter up to three art works in any medium or style. The only restriction is size - works must measure no more than 30 x 30 x 30 cm.
Melbourne based artist Kenny Pittock was announced as the winner of the Evening Star, South Melbourne Market prize of $5,000 on Saturday 2 February.
Internationally acclaimed and award winning Australian actor Rachel Griffiths officially opened the exhibition on Saturday and congratulated each of the artists and wished all of them every success in pursuing their passion for art.
Pittock's winning work Clingy Ex-Boyfriend is like "most of my work, it is meant to be both funny and serious" says the artist. "At the time I painted it I figured there were basically two types of people, there's slime balls and there's misery guts. You wake up as one or the other every morning."
Martin Martini The Vienna Project added to the celebrations with his unique big band.
(These artists will each receive $250 and their work will be reproduced as Linden postcards)
