Siri Hayes > Biography

Siri Hayes is a Melbourne based visual artist who works with photographic and sculptural forms. Siri completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (1998) and a Graduate Diploma of Visual Art (2001) at the Victorian College of the Arts. Her works feature in important public collections including, the National Gallery of Victoria, The City of Melbourne, Monash Gallery of Art and the National Gallery of Australia. Hayes was the recipient of an Australia Council residency in Barcelona that contributed greatly to the further development of her work. The work produced through this residency, All You Knit is Love, was exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne (2012). Siri's most recent solo exhibition was at Heide Museum of Modern Art in 2013 and titled, Back to Nature Scene. This exhibition incorporated both photography and woven sculptural forms. Siri has exhibited widely through group shows including The Cuckoo’s Nest (2013) at Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts; MAKE-UP: The Painted Face in Contemporary Photography (2013) at The Monash Gallery of Art, and most recently as part of Melbourne Now, (2013-2014) at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Siri Hayes > Case Study

Siri Hayes has exhibited twice at Linden, in, Dredge, 2010, and again in, The Cuckoo’s Nest, 2013. Siri believes that all contemporary Melbourne artists aspire to show at Linden at least once, due to its reputation for exhibiting high calibre artists and curated exhibitions. Her own experience of exhibiting at Linden has enabled Siri to progress as a contemporary artist and have further exhibitions of the same work that she exhibited at Linden at other art galleries.

Siri feels it is important to have an art gallery in Melbourne that supports experimentation and the production of new work. For Siri, each time she has exhibited at Linden has been a great experience and for her, the most important aspect of working with Linden has been, ‘the ability to exhibit at a well known and respected Melbourne art gallery.’ Please find out more about Siri Hayes > HERE
