Strange Bedfellows > Girl Geeks vs Footy Fanatics

Thursday 26 September 2019 > 6PM-7.30PM

Kick off the Grand Final long weekend with some sophisticated, cultured chit chat.

Just kidding, let’s head to Good Love.

And answer our burning question: Who says geeks and footy don’t mix? Because not us. In fact, we’re so certain geeks and footy DO mix that we can make a whole event about it. Don’t believe that?

Let our experts Hannah O’Brien from Girl Geek Academy and Andy Bellairs from the National Sports Museum at the MCG convince you!

The evening will go something like this: each of our experts will present their topics for 20 minutes only. Then it’s over to you. Ask a question, any question. Only catch is both speakers have to answer the same question. “Is it possible to program a perfect game strategy?”  (Prizes for the best question.)

Girl geeks and footy fanatics; strange bedfellows or best buds?

About our speakers:
Hannah O’Brien is the tech-obsessed Head of Operations currently working as the organisational epicenter of Girl Geek Academy, a global movement teaching one million women to build the internet by 2025. Hannah first realised her tech talents in 2010 when she built her first website and social media network during her work as a beauty blogger. Hannah grew up as an avid video game consumer, playing adventure and puzzle games in her spare time, while curating an impressive career supporting entrepreneurs as a business strategist and operations manager.

Andy Bellairs is a member of the team redeveloping the National Sports Museum at the MCG. Andy is an Experience Developer leading the Australian football gallery aspect of the project. This involves taking responsibility for all content associated with Australian football - the stories, objects and interactives the National Sports Museum share with our audience. Andy is well placed to know what footy stories an audience appreciates – for the past 16 years, he has been part of the iconic ABC radio footy show, The Coodabeen Champions  Firstly as producer, now as part of the on-air team.
