As part of the Deadly Fringe program, First Nations designers have been commissioned to produce design works that engage with the themes of the Design Fringe exhibitions.

This event brings together the First Nations designers that were commissioned for last year’s exhibition and the designer commissioned this year. Due to the cancellation of last year’s physical exhibition, we are now delighted to be able to show the commissioned work from 2021 and to re-engage with those designers.

The panel will be moderated by Nathan McGuire (Mob in Fashion) and joined by Nicole Monks, Cassie Leatham, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins and Lillardia Briggs-Houston. The designers will discuss how the they have addressed the themes of home, sustainability and waste. They will also discuss how their work has been inspired by traditional cultural practices and Indigenous materials.
