The Bend, was created as part of Melbourne School of Design, Ex-Lab 2017. It was an exploration of combining multiple thin modules
to create a rigid, yet elegant form.
The timber was shaped using the method of hot-pipe steam bending and required a specific timber which wouldn’t succumb to cracking and
splintering. These modules are interweaved, pinned together, and inserted into a 3D lasered aluminium pipe to provide the end
functionality of a coffee table.
