Be brave
Mona Ruijs creates and performs sound baths and sound meditations featuring gongs. Ruijs will create and record a new composition that visitors can experience in the gallery by sitting or lying down to be immersed in the sound and vibrations.
Sound baths have evolved from the knowledge and practices of ancient civilisations in China, Egypt, Greece and India, that explored the
possibilities of sound and its potential to be used as a form of self-healing. Sound bath participants variously report powerful bodily
sensations and meditative states often accompanied by rich imagery, visions and insights. Upon finishing a session most people feel a
deeper sense of relaxation and connection to self. Ruijs will also perform live sound baths and sound meditations over the course of the
exhibition.
