Fool’s Errand is a collaborative exploration of the phenomenon of luck and the role it plays in the human experience. Through their respective mediums, Smith and Lizardo examine four key facets: luck as visual imagery, luck in the everyday, luck as a descriptor, and luck as methodology.

Jessie Spencer Smith (she/her) is an American-born artist who has been living and working in Melbourne/Narrm for the past eight years. She recently completed a BFA in Painting at VCA and has exhibited at TCB Gallery. Her practice is primarily focused on oil painting.

Isaac Lizardo (he/him) is a visual artist who lives and works in Melbourne/Narrm. His practice has a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on materiality, repetition, and intuition to inform the process. He recently completed his BFA at VCA, has curated exhibitions and led programming at Green Floor Gallery, as well as started an ARI Holiday Program. His practice uses site-specific installation, print-making, video, paintings, and sculptures. The work explores themes of time, memory, ritual, and superstition through visual languages, teasing out ideas of imbued significance of images or objects.
