On Holidays at Linden >  Little BATHROOM Figures

Look around your bathroom. What do you see? What kind of items are in the room?

Learn how to play, mould and create your very own miniature sculptures with this fun activity for kids. Inspired by Honor Freeman’s exhibition Ebb, this activity will teach us to slow down and notice everyday objects we often overlook.

Step 1

First, we have to decide what objects we are going to recreate. Look around your bathroom and think of the items you use daily.

What colours are these objects?

What shapes do you see?

What is the texture like?

You might like to recreate a toothbrush or your favourite bath time toy.

Once you have decided what objects to use, gather your items or take a photo for reference.

Step 2

It’s now time to start making our objects.

Using your hands, mould the clay into your desired shapes.

You might like to mix two colours together to make a new colour.

Step 3

Be as carefree and playful as you like.

I found it easiest to break down each object into smaller shapes and then connect the pieces together to make the final object.

You can use the skewer to stick the smaller pieces together.

Step 4

If you used FIMO clay, you can now put the finished sculptures in the oven to harden.

Place the sculptures onto a tray and ask a supervising adult to pop them in the oven for 30mins at 110°.

Step 5

These are the final sculptures!

We hope our examples give you great ideas to make your own miniature sculptures.

Honor is a master of clay and sculpture making and we invite you to visit the gallery to see her current exhibition Ebb.
